Non-Cycling Related

February 2008
Mt. Hood , Oregon

In the effort to keep active and to be one with the winter season, I took a break from the norm of having to bundle up for cycling and took to the mountains instead. Yes, some of us old guys can still learn new tricks, like snow boarding. Not only snow boarding, but nice box grinds and some jumps in the terrain parks too...and without major injury!

No, that is not me on the log in the picture below. That is my instructor...my son. But I do have aspirations to be able to do that one day and with a successful landing.

My Garmin 305 proved to be a great tool on the slopes:
Average daily calorie burn; 6000+
Average daily distance: 20 miles (30 miles including lifts)
Average heart rate: erratic is the best way to describe that!
They have some nice summer activities including downhill mountain biking on the slopes.
Okay, back to cycling...a bit safer sport than snow boarding I think.
